Rinnie commented on the post, 5 Good and 5 Terrible Book-to-Film Adaptations 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Most of my favorites have already been mentioned, but I have to say how much I adore “The Princess Bride” adaptation. That movie gets quoted a lot in my family (“Anybody want a peanut?”).

Rinnie commented on the blog post Everybody Loves Zooey: Is “The New Girl” Moving In For Good? 1 year, 8 months ago
I’ve only seen the commercials for this show, but my first impression was that the premise reminded me of The Wallflower manga (except in that one, the guys are counting on their ability to “remake” the girl to allow them to live rent-free, and the girl in question fights them at every step). Judging from [...]

I loved The Worst Witch when I was a kid! It had Charlotte Rae (Mrs. Garrett from The Facts of Life) and Fairuza Balk in it too.

Rinnie commented on the blog post OPEN THREAD: What Are You Listening To? 1 year, 9 months ago
I can’t really recommend any “new” music since I’m usually the last to know about any great new artists, but here’s a sampling of what I’ve been listening to lately: Neko Case — Prison Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sLNVRIndYI Imogen Heap — Speeding Cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3R0RHNHaU4 Margot & The Nuclear So and So’s –…[Read more]

In reply to: Traci posted an update in the group Autostraddle Over 30: I am sad that this group has only attracted 6 members. Is Autostraddle really just full of young’ins? Er, younger’ins? ViewI think you might be right. I’m 30+ and shy (I even joined the Shystraddlers group), but luckily I’m braver on the internet than I would be in RL.

Rinnie commented on the blog post What Do You Mean You Don’t Know How To Make Suntea 1 year, 9 months ago
This takes me back to my childhood. My mom made suntea all the time. It tastes so much better than the stuff that comes out of the iced tea maker, IMO.

Favorite parts: Brandy as “Phil,” Julie’s beard, the “monkey,” Brandy’s nails, Julie’s song.
Awesome review all around. I <3 the whole rant on how the wives/girlfriends are portrayed in movies as fun-hating shrews. That's one of my pet peeves too.

In reply to: Rinnie posted an update in the group Classical Music Fans: Chopin is my all-time favorite classical composer/musician. I listen to his music all the time when I’m writing. My favorite nocturnes are this: […] ViewHa ha, that is all kinds of awesome.
I think Liszt steals the show in that comic. -
Rinnie commented on the blog post 18 Murders in 18 Months: Puerto Rico’s LGBTTs Face New Threats, Old Politics 1 year, 11 months ago
My heart goes out to Juan Carlos and the rest of the LGBTT community in Puerto Rico. I admire his bravery in speaking out. Can I also say how much I detest the whole idea of a “gay panic” defense? Every time I hear that phrase, I just want to scream. Quit blaming the victim [...]

Ok, this comment will forever brand me as a Star Wars geek, but I immediately thought, “Ooo, Lesbian Han Solo. Awesome!!” when I saw that wedding photo. I realize now that the vest probably wasn’t always undone and it’s probably just part of a regular tux and the similarities are a coincidence, but damned if [...]
