What I Like

Favorite Books

TO THE LIGHTHOUSE!! City of Saints & Madmen. The Left Hand of Darkness.

Favorite Queer Books

Le Guin's the Telling, which is nominally about anthropology but really about stages of grief and homophobia. The Privilege of the Sword by Ellen Kushner, which has the only young female bisexual protag I've ever encountered. Ammonite by Nicola Griffith! The lesbian Left Hand of Darkness, oh my gosh do I love it. The new spec fiction genderqueer anthology Beyond Binary. YEEEEEEEEEE

Favorite Movies

My absolute favorite movie is l'Armee des Ombres, made in 1960s New Wave era France but set during the WWII French Resistance. It speaks to me on so many levels: philosophical, emotional, and historical…and it's directed by a guy famous for badass New Wave gangster movies, so visually it is awesome. Yeah.

Favorite Documentaries

Outrage. The Rape of Europa. The Sound and the Fury.

Favorite TV Shows

Bones (aspies on tv ftw!). Doctor Who bla bla, Life on Mars (the original thanks ever so), Ashes to Ashes, the Hour, SPACED.

I would never abuse netflix to watch Bridget Regan in terrible fantasy shows, no, never!

Favorite Music

Oh no. I love so much music it's ridiculous…Opera (gluck, puccini, debussy, beethoven yes he wrote an opera it's called fidelio and it's got pants roles and genderqueer and it's delicious), video game soundtracks, Star Wars & Lord Of the Rings, Pink Floyd, Robert Johnson, Bessie Smith, uh, yeah. Anything with a slide guitar.

Favorite Sandwich

i had this amazing club in las Vegas of all places that was white bread, ham, turkey, CRANBERRY SAUCE, lettuce, and mayo. YES.

Favorite Writers

Ursula K. Le Guin, obvs, Virginia Woolf, Sarah Hall, Jeff Vandermeer, William Shakespeare, Colm Toibin, Patricia McKillip, Elizabeth Bowen, Oliver Sacks.
