Heyo! I know this group doesn’t get much action, but let’s change that! I’m looking for a travel partner in Thailand next March-April and would love to travel with another Straddler.
Who I am: 22 y/o English teacher, originally from the States. Well-travelled, mellow, outgoing, outdoorsy. Travel interests: Weird food, hiking, biking, spending lots of time on the beach. Interested in trying/learning: rock climbing, new languages, scuba diving. Not interested in: Party marathons(i’m down to go dancing and check out bars, but not every night til 4 AM)
What I’m looking for in a travel partner: Someone who is independent and has a bit of travel experience. Okay with splitting up and doing your own thing occasionally, but keeping tabs on each other. Down to keep things cheap and simple.
If any of this sounds interesting, hit me up and let’s talk! I’ll let you Skype with my mom to prove I’m not a total weirdo ;)

    • hey, I’m going to be heading in that direction next year (South East Asia is about as far as I have narrowed it down in my planning, starting with Bali in February). I was in Thailand briefly last year but spent all my time in one spot so am keen to go back and experience a bit more.
I’m 27, Aussie, well travelled, and have pretty similar interests – keen on outdoorsy stuff, I’ll definitely be diving and would love to do some rock climbing.
Would be cool to meet up with a fellow straddler if we are in the same place / same time.

      • awesome! What part of Thailand did you stay in? I’m thinking of hanging in Chiang Mai if I end up travelling solo, but am really keen on exploring more of the island areas. If you end up making it out there, holla.

        • I stayed on Koh Tao off the eastern coast, definitely a dive mecca. I’m looking at the islands off the west coast for next year, looks like the better side for climbing.

    • Hey, thought I’d shout out, see if you’re still planning your trip. I’m in Lombok now and just thinking ahead a little, trying to figure out where to head next.
I’m still def keen to do some climbing in Thailand, and think it would be better with a buddy.
Let me know if your still up for it. (Also, you can catch me on facebook – heather norrie – profile pic is a girl parachuting from a fighter jet)

    • I’m heading to Southeast Asia this summer from the end of may to the end of August. I’m going to be volunteering at a school in Cambodia from around May 30-July 22. I’m hoping to explore Cambodia quite a bit on the weekends and then after my time there, I’m figuring out where to travel. I’m going with the less is more mentality on this and thinking of hitting up Laos and Thailand. I have a brother who lives in Bangkok so I’ll be hanging with him for a week or so and then going to do some solo travel. I’d love to know some ”must do’s” from either of you. I can’t do any scuba unfortunately (can’t equalize…the result of popping my ears when I was 5 and feeling like my eardrums exploded has scarred me for life) but I’m up for some climbing. I’ve only done a little indoor bouldering. I majorly line up with your ”up for heading out for some fun, but not partying until 4am every night” philosophy. I am however hoping to find some live music type of places.
