About Me

About Me

I came to Berlin for work, which means I work some of the time and read Autostraddle all of the time…
But I would love to meet fellow Autostraddlers for coffee (in Germany) or talking on the internet (on the internet)!

What I Like

Favorite Books

this is a really difficult question. Steppenwolf (Herman Hesse) comes everywhere with me, as does a lot of poetry. Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, obvs. Kushiel’s Legacy – the whole damn thing – of Jacqueline Carey. And I love The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. And just about any post-apocalyptic dystopian fiction that’s out there.

Favorite Movies

let the right one in. run lola run. CLUE!

Favorite TV Shows

Battlestar Galactica. I haven’t finished it so please do not tell me anything about it at all. Yes, Firefly. And a lot of anime, especially yuri! I’m almost done with Maria-sama ga miteru, and other favorites are Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Utena (!!), Princess Tutu (not yuri; still fabulous), and Serial Experiments Lain (which is yuri, I don’t care what you tell me).

I also love Chopped.

Favorite Music

here we go.

classical music: bach, purcell, handel, mozart, brahms, anybody writing 1890 – 1920 (schoenberg, debussy, ravel, szymanowski, kurt weill), kaija saariaho, osvaldo golijov, and the operas of puccini, which I am not ashamed of.

non-classical music: björk is the queen of my heart. also tegan&sara, joanna newsom, massive attack, imogen heap, metric, the black keys, kings of convenience, feist, florence+the machine, gillian welch, jolie holland, lhasa de sela, st. vincent, scissor sisters, and anything ella fitzgerald has ever touched.

Favorite Sandwich

Favorite Writers

all queer formalist poets I’ve found so far! (Millay, Bishop, Auden, Thom Gunn, Mary Oliver, Lorca, Sappho…) as well as Rilke, a lot.
