    the picture scale and units of the amoeba proteus and grain of salt are misleading, 0.5mm = 500μm, does it not?

      sooo, i just looked this up: 500 nanometers = .0005 millimeters. i don’t remember these things from school!

        but μm is micrometres, one millionth of a metre = one thousandth of a millimetre. but yes 500 nanometres = .0005 millimetre.
        i remember this because i live in the metric world! of which the US is not a part. i wonder if that will ever change.
