    THERE IS AN ALARMING LACK OF COMMENTARY ON THIS POST. Which I’ve just finally stumbled across.

    YOU GUYS. Bikini Kill. Kathleen Hanna. These things are important.

    I have a suggestion/request for the AS team – can we discuss how important Bikini Kill, Team Dresch, Tribe 8 et al. were/are important in our queer lives? A roundtable maybe? I feel like today’s kids need to be exposed to the messages/sheer awesomeness that was Riot Grrl/Queercore. I mean, with the onslaught of news stories about teen suicide this past year, Bikini Kill’s “RIP” and Team Dresch’s “Don’t Try Suicide” (among others) felt soo relevant. KTHX <3YOUGUYS.

      Don’t worry – the baby queers still listen to these bands. Team Dresch and Tribe 8 were part of the soundtrack to my bus rides in high school. And it wasn’t the 90s.

    Thanks Brianna! Glad to hear more people appreciate these bands. I honestly think roadtripping with Lynnee Breedlove (Tribe 8), discovering Bikini Kill, and seeing Team Dresch (reunited) play live are easily some of the most important/enlightening/empowering experiences in my formative queer youth.
