The First International Meet-Up: January, Scotland, U.K. (probably)
Public Group active 4 months, 1 week agoSome ASSchatters have begun planning a Scottish meet-up in January. We could move the venue to somewhere more convenient… if a huge contingent came from Birmingham, for example. We thought Scotland would be awesome as the Scottish meet-ups are pretty regular and the ‘scene’ in Edinburgh/Glasgow is worth the trip alone. Plus there are cheap flights here and a pretty high chance of snow… or at least freezing cold rain!
The ‘international’ element is currently being provided by ASSchatters based in The Netherlands and Switzerland. However, if we could get other nations interested in representing, that would be amazingly awesome!
If you came along, you could enjoy: ceilidhing, haggis, whisky, tartan/plaid souvenirs (perhaps enough shirts to rival Harto’s wardrobe), fluffy cows and much, much more!
If you think coming to Scotland to hang out with lovely lady homogays would float your boat, then please join the group! I expect we’d plan most of this via ASSchat, so come along there, too!

I reckon you could get a decent hotel/hostel for about £50 per night B&B, but you will want to browse Expedia, etc. for that. Maybe there are cheaper places to stay…

Okay, so once I tally that up and take into consideration conversion rates, those of us coming from euro-carrying countries should walk with approximately €270 – €300 for all three days, which would include transport, food, drinks, and excursions. I book my flights with http://www.skyscanner.net – they seem pretty cheap in general. I think they are also branching into accommodation, too.
I wonder if there is a way to message all the members of the group and get everyone thinking about this…

Well Newcastle isn’t really that far from the border but it’s technically a little bit international….Yep I have been to Edi/Gla canny few times, but Glasgow only for the 02 academy really.

So are you planning one huge meet up or a series of meet-ups? I know Edinburgh really well, so could recommend stuff for there. Glasgow sounds lovely, but the only experience I have of it is running like a crazy person after a taxi that I had left a bag in!

Could you suggest fabulous things to do in Glasgow? I went to an amazing club there once with a mirrored underground dancing area, whilst upstairs was all Baroque gold-leaf chairs… I wonder if it is still there…
