Intern Grace's Team Pick: Cute Girls Longboarding in "Carving the Mountain"

Hey, hi, hello, Internet! It's me, Intern Grace, and I'm doing Team Picks now! Apparently! Exclamation point!

The Longboard Girls Crew in Madrid are badasses, and filmmaker Juan Rayos made a video about their badass-ery going down a mountain, and it's beautiful.

I feel like this is the kind of video that usually has the label "empowering" attached to it because it has women succeeding in a domain that's not a kitchen, feminism, etc. But this video is less about saying, "Girls can longboard, too" and more about saying, "We're awesome, watch us go down this mountain really fast." It makes me wish I had enough coordination to longboard/ do anything physical beyond moving my laptop from room to room. Summer goal!

That was a good vid. I’m definetely buying a skateboard sooner than later now.

this whole time, the thing I’ve been missing, it was super cute spanish girls on long boards (I don’t even know what a long board is).

I wanted to get into longboarding in the past but ended up not even getting one and my skateboard was rusted out at that point. So this is extra sweet. Awesome, thanks for sharing.

I watched this and was amazed and terrified at the same time. I kept getting scary flashes of going down the slight incline by my house and falling off my quad skates and breaking my arm again!

Yesss longboarding. I noticed that a high percentage of girls who longboard are also gay. Happy coincidence, hoping my longboard will help me get the laydeez haha. I even put an AS sticker on my board.

But srs though, longboarding is so much fun! I try to convert all my friends cause I love it so much. It’s my main mode of transportation around campus…I decided not to get a bike and just board instead. Best decision ever.

Grace! you CAN longboard! just go out and practice every night at midnight when nobody’s watching and then when you’re really really good, do it in front of your friends. they’ll be very impressed. i promise.
