NFL Star David Tyree Fears Gay Marriage in NY Will Enable Anarchy, Gender-Confused Children

ANARCHY N ACTION

We’re closer than ever to getting gay marriage legalized in New York. According to former New York Giants Wide Receiver David Tyree, that means we’re closer than ever to complete and total anarchy!

NOM has released a 6-minute interview with Tyree, which is a rare “celebrity” endorsement for  powerful and radically conservative organization. While ex-Giants legend Michael Strahan and Giants co-owner Steve Tisch have come out in support of same-sex marriage and last month and New York Rangers’ star Sean Avery became the first New York professional athlete to “publicly support marriage equality,” Tyree is becoming the first public figure since Carrie Prejan to ally so strongly with NOM, which former NOM activist Louis Marinelli describes as “a small group of devoutly religious Catholics supported by a couple of undisclosed sources” and “a handful of fringe Catholics.”

From the interview:

“If they pass this gay marriage bill, what I know will happen is this will be the beginning of our country sliding toward … it’s a strong word, but, anarchy. That will be the moment itself where our country loses its grip with what’s right. Marriage is one of those things that is the backbone of society. So if you redefine it, it changes the way we educate our children, it changes the perception of what is good, what is right, what is just.”

Tyree had battled with crack and alcohol addiction from an early age and was arrested for drug possession in 2004. He says he’s been sober since his girlfriend Leilah, who’s now his wife, got pregnant with their second child. Leilah and Tyree then became born-again Christians. He’s not so sure same-sex couples could handle raising a child:

“This is what I do know. You can’t teach something that you don’t have. So two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman. That’s just, for lack of better terms, common sense.”

This is probably a huge wake-up call to everyone in this country irrationally obsessed with the perpetuation of traditionally patriarchal gender roles! This is probs a HUGE bummer especially for people like me who experienced the death of a parent at a young age — if only our parental units had thought more about our gender development before they died!

Here’s another unpleasant thing Tyree has said, apparently relating to his dissatisfaction with Obama:

“How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all of a sudden because a minority — an influential minority — has a push or an agenda and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country? It’s something that’s holy and sacred and I think there’s nothing more honorable than fighting for it.”

TMZ claims they have an exclusive from The Human Rights Campaign, which seems extraordinarily unlikely, but here it is:

“Anarchy? Hardly. Committed gay and lesbian couples have been able to legally marry in five states and the District of Columbia — not to mention a number of foreign countries — for years now and cows are still giving milk, little boys are still pulling little girls’ pig tails, and we still drive on the right side of the street.”.

Here’s Tyree’s six-minute NOM interview:

(TMZ also points out that “FYI — Tyree’s statement comes almost 44 years to the day after interracial marriage was legalized in the United States … thanks, in part, to the agenda of an influential minority.”)

This morning a private GOP meeting was held with NYC Mayor Bloomberg, who decided to pay a surprise visit to Albany to chat with State Senators about how they should legalize gay marriage. The bill passed the Assembly on Wednesday (80-63), as expected. Bloomberg’s position has some weight amongst the GOP because he’s one of their biggest campaign donors.

Republican Senator Martin Golden told the AP that “the collapse of a deal to extend New York City rent control regulations late Wednesday night has complicated the gay marriage issue” and that he expects the marriage bill to be voted on in the Senate, but that might not happen this week. Perhaps to will happen next week on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday. See, today is Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. The day after tomorrow is Saturday. And Sunday comes afterwards. (However apparently the legislature adjourns on Monday, so I’m a bit confused how this works?)

On that note, have you called your Senator yet? If you live in New York, take two minutes today to contact Sen Andrew Lanza (Staten Island 518-455-3215) & Sen Jack Martins (Nassau County 518-455-3265) — they’re both currently undecided. New York only needs one vote to become the largest state in the country to support marriage equality. The HRC has an interface to connect you to your local politician.

  1. I ranted on FB this morning about this. Some things touched on him being racist against his own people, and various other things.

    Some highlights include:

Not only is he very uninformed, but he’s racist against his own people.

Re: “Minority groups with an agenda”

Not to mention the Voting Rights Act of 1965, enabling African Americans the right to vote, and getting rid of literacy tests etc. Once again, by what started as an “influential minority” group. And went on to include Rosa Parks, Malcom X, and Martin Luther King Jr.

Regarding the NFL: “In the 1933 rules meeting, Marshall and the owners agreed to ban black players from the league.[2] The NFL did not have another black player until after World War II.” NFL re-integration became successful when a small handful (minority) of players pushed their ways onto teams and cited the overturn (in 1965) of the 1896 “separate but equal” ruling, thus allowing the supreme court to put pressure on the league since they played in “public” stadiums. The NFL then agreed they could not bar anyone from “trying out”.

Also, not to mention that he’s also saying single parenting should also not be allowed.

The thing I always say is, if people have such a problem with “homosexuality” then they should immediately withdraw all of their children from, and not attended ANY performances of: The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, or Sleeping Beauty. Which make up a vast majority of popular ballets. Why? Because Tchaikovsky was one of the gayest men on earth. Seriously. He’s a ninja gay into haters lives! Also, the 1812 overture? Tchiakovsky. So I guess fireworks with music should be outlawed too.

(which is not something I would seriously advise, but felt it was a good point)

    • Homosexuals are not a race therefore your point is invalid.
By and large African Americans are HIGHLY offended at this type of attempt to link the Gay and Lesbian cause. If you can find the continent of gay and lesbians that create children on their own entirely then you will get unanimous support. It does not exist because it is a behavior and not an inherent characteristic that is obvious such as being Asian, African or other descent. A preference does not equate to an entire continent of people that are treated differently because of the color of their skin and the attempted genocide that has followed not to mention the enslavement and economic suppression that has continued by moving people from their own lands to support another’s economic supremacy (ex. Africa, Australia, India etc..). That being said, it does not exclude the reality of prejudice against said preference and that is wrong.

The point that is valid is that opportunities should be open to all regardless of race, gender or orientation. Marraige is trationally Man to Woman around the world and that is a fact. Anarchy, I doubt it but it will change society and the children as a whole.

      • thats funny because if it wasnt obvious then people wouldnt get called faggots at 12 years old. since when was race the ONLY “credible” source to which two groups can compare themselves. if gays were considered like everyone else and had no characteristic to set them apart en mass then this wouldnt be an issue at all would it.

and we all know that gays were NEVER treated differently and have been tried to be systematically wiped out anywhere. NEVER. /cough

do you consider the jews a race? or a religion (not innate)? cause, if they arent a specific race then i mean all their oppression cant possibly be compared to racial plights amirite?

its not a direct matchup but failing to see any resemblance is kind of ridiculous.

        • 12 years old? lol Even less! There was this boy in my brother’s class in elementary school… We knew he was gay since he was 8 years old. lol And we weren’t mistaken. It was just so obvious, even back then… Not because he “played with dolls”, or because he “dressed like a princess”. He didn’t do anything differently from his classmates, actually. It was just the way he percieved genders… I don’t know how to explain it. And come on, there are mothers who swear they knew their kids were gay when they were still little. So yeah, “not an inherent characteristic” my ass, @TIRED OF THIS COMPARISON.

          • yeah i didnt want to get too extreme with ages but yeah, the gay out of the womb suspicions totally exist

      • Homosexuality is not simply an action or behavior- you can be gay without acting on it. I’m still gay when I mow the lawn, drive my car, order a coffee, and go to sleep at night, not just when I kiss someone of the same sex. Closeted self-hating gays are still gay even when they try to be as “straight-acting” as possible. Furthermore, though not all members of the community feel the same way, there is a large portion of the queer community that does feel they were “born that way” aka it’s an immutable characteristic.
Secondly, gay people have and still do face economic oppression and acts of violence that in some areas can be linked to attempted genocide. (“Kill the Gays” bill anyone? And I hate to be the one to bring up the Nazis because it happens so often, but seriously. They put homosexuals in concentration camps.) I don’t want to get into the oppression olympics because comparing privilege is pointless and all suffering is suffering, but yeah.
The reason the gay rights movement gets compared to the civil rights movement so often is because there are indeed obvious parallels. Sure, there’s differences too. But ignoring the similarities is ridiculous.
Be careful when you talk about “traditional” marriage, because that is a relative term. Gay people have existed throughout history and different societies have had different attitudes about homosexuality and homosexual relationships. Do a little research.

        • I see no valid reason to hate or discrimanate, let’s be clear about that. There is no comparison to the level of hatred or who is more oppressed and trying to do so is an effor that requires a significant lack of intelligence. Any amount of hatred or intolerance is wrong any way it is sliced.

@ Alba: I get the fact that people feel that they were “born this way” and it is not something to argue because it is relevant to the individal and no one can with any level of clarity can explain or quantify the experience of another human being which we all are. Stop and read what I said. Prejudice happens and it is wrong regardless of who it goes against. The re- defining of marriage is (as I believe) inevitable but the violent reaction of the minority (on either side of the debate)helps no one.

@ radiogirl: I need no research to validate what I have heard repeatedly and personally feel. The genocide against other heritage groups (there is only one race and that is human) is well documented and not truly a measure that can be easily linked to those of a different lifestyle. I can speak only for myself and what I have heard from the vast majority of those in my circle of associates which encompasses the globe that the comparison of one to another is not a valid view to which many ascribe. IIf you are bristled ath the “inherant characteristic” phrasing, please calm down and be reasonable. Heritage from an ethnic group is what was meant, rather than to infer that a gay person has a choice.

There have been murders based on orientation and ignorant legislation has been attempted and thankfully defeated. After all, such law is the based on persecution like witch hunts and can claim lives (all wrongly) based on assumption of right. Murder is murder period.

Marriage has always been man and woman and changing that will have an effect on society as a whole. Changing that is going to have an effect on society but the outcome will be determined by time.

Marriage is not a “right” it is alegal action that has been codified from religion (all of them) and sets up structure for group living. Understand that even if the law passes, and I believe it eventually will, that all people will not accept it based on the nature of the relationship. Just because we disagree does not mean that we have to hate and be un-reasonable.

          • I read what you said. You said:

“It does not exist because it is a behavior and not an inherent characteristic that is obvious such as being Asian, African or other descent.”

That’s what I was talking about. You said it was a behavior. I’m telling you it is, indeed, an inherent characteristic. I’m not saying they are born that way, I’m saying they ARE that way, and not by choice. Not because they decide to behave that way. That was what I was trying to say. Maybe you were trying to say that it’s an inherent trait that translates into a behavior and not into something that you can easily see on the outside?

I agree that prejudice is wrong on both parts, but I don’t get why you say there’s been a violent reaction from THIS part of the debate. With comments such as those from Tyree, I believe the reaction here was pretty contained, and not violent or un-reasonable at all. If someone had attacked one of the characteristics that define who you are as a human being, like this guy did with the LGBT people, I bet you would have complained too. ;-)

You also said in your first message that this would change children. What did you mean? There are already tons of children born into same-sex families, or adopted by same-sex families. And they are no different from the rest of the children.

          • This. Definitely this.
Agree about the ‘violent reaction’ line. In what way have queers had a ‘violent reaction’? Marines beating the shit out of a gay kid because they “thought he winked” at them is a violent reaction. Getting upset when someone tells you are a perversion and that there is something wrong with you, something wrong with your love, is not violent.

          • while i totally understand the argument that it’s difficult to classify “gays” as a suspect class — it’s a fuzzy category, we know that — that doesn’t mean that this isn’t a huge issue or that there isn’t rampant discrimination and hate that we need to deal with. this needs to be dropped as an “explanation” for why i don’t deserve the rights i currently do not have.

and frankly, that “change in society” that changing marriage will supposedly bring about? it’s a change that i more than welcome and i think is way overdue.

          • Tired said: “Marriage has always been man and woman and changing that will have an effect on society as a whole.”
Yes, the majority of marriages have probably always been heterosexual cross-culturally, BUT this existed too: “It is believed that same-sex union was a socially recognized institution at times in Ancient Greece and Rome,[2] some regions of China, such as Fujian, and at certain times in ancient European history.[3]” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_same-sex_unions
So if your looking at history as part of your reasoning, keep that in mind.

      • I am black. I am not offended.

My parents are also black. They are not offended.

Many of my friends and family and coworkers and people I see on the street everyday are also black. They are also not offended. They’ve got too much other important shit (such as housing discrimination, racial profiling, and dealing with their workplace) to really get offended about whether someone compares gays to blacks. Rights are rights. What it all comes down to is that some people have them and some people don’t.

Also, are we trying to play “who gets oppressed more?” Seriously? We don’t have better shit to do (like, idk, get those rights we don’t have?)?

        • THANK YOU, there is nothing worse than that whole game of problem/privilege tennis, especially when the people playing actually have shit in common at the end of the day, i am glad that someone else agrees with me on this

      • well, i might be mistaken, but i think i learnt in school that race is a social construct. so what was your argument again?
LGBTQ ppl are discriminated against in EXACTLY the same way black people once were and still are. really, there is no difference. the people above me explained it all so i won’t go into it again.(I also happen to be black, so don’t even go there…u know where.

    • When I read that part about the dangers of listening to minority groups I said to myself (or maybe my computer screen. prove it) “WHO TOLD YOU TO SAY THAT?! That doesn’t even make sense. This is AMERICA! We LOVE minority rights! Pull yourself together man. Whoever told you to say these things clearly just wanted to make you look bad. Stop perpetuating ‘dumb jock’ stereotypes!” I definitely got a lot of black civil rights feelings about that quote and I do not appreciate it.

And then when I read the part about anarchy I started singing “ANARCHY! Revolution! Justice screaming for solutions! Forcing changes, risk and dangers! Making noise and making PLEAS!” And I got pissed off because I fucking hate RENT. I am so upset.

Also, I’m a negro so the thing I said about blacks means more coming from me. I’m pretty sure that is how that works.

  2. I have a tough debate with myself about wanting to watch the video to verify the information firsthand (not that I don’t totally trust AS, but one should always check for themselves) and not wanting to give such dangerous drivel another view count. I think my trust of your reporting wins.

  3. I feel inclined to mention that this man had to call all the women he was sleeping with to call off his affairs after his wife threatened to leave him.

So, yeah, sanctity of marriage isn’t really something he’s into anyway.

  4. on MSNBC they just said that a vote should happen later today in the senate! I am so confused about this.

  5. I was reading the article on CNN and read some of the comments left by people, I cannot believe how ignorant people can be. Saying gays and lesbians have a mental illness and other ignorant opinions, ugh.

    • If you cherish your blood pressure, I’d advise against reading comments on any news blogs – particularly CNN, Yahoo and AOL (the latter can cause deadly convulsions).

      • I can no longer read comments on Yahoo because it angers me so and sometimes makes me yell at the computer… and since I usually check Yahoo at work when I’m bored… It doesn’t work well for me! People can be very ignorant, it’s almost amazing the depths of their stupidity…

    • the American Psychiatric Association stopped saying that homosexuality was a mental illness in 1973, sadly lots of people still remember when it was and still see it that way.
We made a lot of progress in the last 40 years. There’s still a lot more to do but we came a long way, baby

      • Definitely have progressed! I’m curious as to where these issues will stand in 10/20 years.

  6. Yup, every since we got gay marriage up here in Canada…it’s been anarchy…ANARCHY!

For example…last nights post-Stanley Cup hockey riots in Vancouver? Yup, THAT’S RIGHT…it’s all because of gay marriage! OUR CIVILIZATION IS CRUMBLING! ANARCHY!

    • aren’t you all just a bunch of socialists running around up there anyhow YOU COMMIES, that HEALTHCARE THING your country must have NO MORALS i think it’s a TERRIBLE THREAT that you’re all up there bleeding all that CANADIAN ANARCHY AND HOMOSEXUALITY AND HEALTHCARE AND MAPLE SYRUP down here on MY COUNTRY

my canadian intern today is like “lol what’s all this about gay marriage? i’m from canada and up there we just call it marriage”

  7. “Marriage is the backbone of America?”
It seems like this argument can be filtered towards anything now.

“Gun Ownership is the backbone of America.”
“Trickle down economics are the backbone of America.”

    Get more original, man.

  8. “This is what I do know. You can’t teach something that you don’t have. So two men will never be able to show a woman how to be a woman. That’s just, for lack of better terms, common sense.”

Common sense!? That statement is the 100% complete opposite of common sense. This is ridiculous. By that logic white people and black people shouldn’t have children together because the child would be biracial. How can they, as persons of singular race, show a child how to be biracial when NEITHER of them are? So stupid.

    • by his own logic, he shouldn’t even have a child. this guy is an idiot repeating what someone else whispered in his ear on sunday. he’s just another voice in the crowd of christian extremist.

    • Unfortunately, whenever some idiot says “blahblahblah is just common sense” other idiots tend to believe them because common sense is common sense, duh. And we here in Amurrca believe in COMMON SENSE. None o’ that fancy intellectual mumbo jumbo.

(Maybe I should try this next time I’m trying to pick up a girl? “You should totally go out with me, it’s just common sense!”)

      • “common sense is common sense, duh. And we here in Amurrca believe in COMMON SENSE. None o’ that fancy intellectual mumbo jumbo.”

roflmao my friend tori is sitting right next to me and said the same exact thing, and she’s going to steal your common sense line. you better patent that shit

    • I am biracial, and I turned out just fine. Well, I am a raging lesbian, so that might be a problem to some people. :)

Seriously though, Tyree was raised by a single mother after his dad left them when he was one. According to his logic, he must actually be a woman, because there’s no way his mother could have taught him how to be a man.

  9. Your involvement is crucial. Our only hope for this is if New Yorkers call their senate offices today. In particular, reach out to Greg Ball (Putnam County), 518-455-3111;
    Joe Griffo (Utica), 518-455-3334;
    Mark Grisanti (Buffalo, Grand Island, Niagara Falls), 518-455-3240;
    Andrew Lanza (Staten Island) 518-455-3215;
    Betty Little (Plattsburgh to Glens Falls), 518-455-2811;
and Jack Martins (Nassau County/Garden City) 518-455-3265.

  10. I used to be an anarchist and was VERY sexually confused when i was 16. now that im more of a socialist (*gasp*) and not confused i will say that the whole anarchy stage was due to the fact that my parents would push their religious beliefs on me way too much.

if anything it’s oppression that leads to confusion. and you can tell that this rocket scientist has been oppressing his train of thought. his just spilling out whatever the guy in the suit at church tells him on sunday. he has other people think for him now that he is a wealthy born again christian

    • The funny thing is that Jesus never said a word against homosexuality. In fact, it can be interpreted that he praised a gay man in the roman centurion story.

The stronger words against homosexuality in the Bible are those in the Leviticus, and seriously, the Leviticus is crap. It says you can’t cut your hair or shave, you have to clean yourself with blood, you have to worship at a tabernacle, you can’t eat shrimp, you can’t eat ham, you can’t wear polyester clothes or gold jewelry… So, according to the Leviticus and to James (“For whoever keeps the whole Law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it”), who the fuck isn’t a sinner? lol

Plus, the Bible also says: “Christ is the end of the Law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes”. So yeah, this pretty much means: “fuck the Leviticus”. lol

I always have a lot of fun discussing this issue with those who use the Bible to attack homosexuals. They always go away with their tails between their legs. lol

God, I will never understand why they need a book to tell them what’s right and what’s wrong. u_u

      • I live in a town where most people are or expect you to be baptist, pentecostal, or catholic. on the fringe are the small group of mormons (they are a really nice community, i like them a lot actually), athiest, and the “just call me spiritual” crowd.

I do understand where you are coming from. It’s like when he says “let he who is without sin cast the fist stone.” well this asshole tyree doesn’t even come close. I still have friends who consider themselves christians who certainly would not put up with what this guy is saying.
I did leave the church with the belief that no one who would want to love humanity would say such idiotic things about humans. all of this hatesay gets caught in everyone’s different interpretations until one day they call it the word of god and everyone starts spouting it. If they really wanted to help people out they would treat them with the same respect and love as they would anyone else.

        • Exactly! They say Jesus is love, and then they spread hate against other human beings and preach against things that Jesus never condemned.

Like that crazy woman, Shirley Phelps. Now, I know that Westboro is a bad choice to show as an example of Christianity (because, fuck, their behavior is the opposite of what Christianity is supposed to be about), but this is a good example, so bear with me.

So, that woman says God hates gay people because they are sinners, yet she has a son out of wedlock, which is also a sin according to the Bible. And when confronted, she has the nerve to say: “Jesus died for humanity, so he washed away my sins. If Jesus hadn’t washed away my sins, I would have been doomed to hell”. WHAT THE FUCK?! If she says homosexuality is a sin (same as sleeping with someone out of wedlock) and Jesus died to wash away our sins, shouldn’t that mean he would have washed away the “sin” that’s homosexuality too? So Jesus can wash away her sins but not the sins of the rest of the world? Jesus Christ… u_u

To Mrs. Phelps and others like her I would say:

“Judge not, and you shall not be judged; condemn not, and you shall not be condemned; forgive, and you shall be forgiven.”

          And…

“I tell you, many will come from the east and the west to find a seat in the Kingdom of Heaven, while the heirs will be thrown into outer darkness.”

I believe the best way to refute religious statements about homosexuality is to fight them with their own weapons. That’s what I do whenever I encounter one of those fanatics. It usually works. ;-)

  11. Am I the only one creeped out by the ‘Marriage mirrors the relationship with God’ thing?
Does he have regular sex with God? :/ People are weird…

    • Can I just say that this has always bothered me? Also, the girls who say “Jesus is my boyfriend” and let their fathers “keep their virginity”. I may be going on a tangent now.

  12. Agreed. It’s like nuns who say they’re married to Jesus. C’mon people, Jesus is dead, how come the church hates gay marriage but actively promotes marrying dead people? :/
And are priests married to Jesus? Because that’s kinda gay.

    • The Church is subordinate to God the way ladies are subordinate to men, so the Church is a lady. Priests are married to the Church. That’s why you cant have lady-priests, it’d be gay.

      • …So if Jesus = God, that puts nuns and the Church on the same level of the playing field?

        • Also, am I the only person who keeps seeing the ads for Christianmingle.com on this website? It’s driving me nuts, and I feel like the Mormons are playing a trick on me or something.

          • I keep seeing them and it’s like WTF?? I keep feeling like we’ve been hacked or something, it creeps me out for some reason!

          • nope. you’re not alone. I keep kinda wanting to click so they keep spending money on the ads, at least a tiny bit of which supports Autostraddle!

  13. Ahem..Reise, we will not be getting Gay Marriage in just NYC.

    -With Love, A Gay Upstater

  14. Ah, ok, it all makes sense now.
So… Is the Church a closeted gay woman? Is that why the Church hates gays? OMG is that what the Da Vinci Code was about?? #neverfinishedthatbook.

  15. (TMZ also points out that “FYI — Tyree’s statement comes almost 44 years to the day after interracial marriage was legalized in the United States … thanks, in part, to the agenda of an influential minority.”)

For once in my life I’m actually happy at TMZ for mentioning something. Because that’s the first thing I thought of when I read this moron’s statements.

Sidenote: gay anarchy just sounds like Mad Max with sequence, drag makeup and an ass load of flannel with Gaga on the lead bike.

  16. So Alice’s podcast on OurChart that features this guy slow dancing with another guy be coming out next week, right?

    • Ha! I think that one by TLW was a reference to Tim Hardaway. But tbh, even if that was the case (if this guy was a self-loathing homo/bi)…I feel nothing but sadness for those politicians/sports stars/actors or whoever it may be…who are self-loathing and say explosive things and/or pass discriminatory bills.

  17. “How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all of a sudden because a minority — an influential minority — has a push or an agenda and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country?”

On this genius logic, we should still have slavery, because our country was founded with it. I absolutely fucking hate it when oppressed minorities fail to identify with other oppressed minority groups.

I am not comparing the two struggles in the sense that I want to declare that one has been more oppressed than the other or something ridiculous like that. The oppression of African-Americans is actually very unique. However, I think each group can identify with and learn from the other. I’m sick of this always turning into a pissing contest. No minority group or groups need to be arguing among themselves when there is so much outside conflict to deal with.

  18. Oh goodness. I’m black and I’m queer and I don’t give a fuck about the comparison, because in no place is it really “okay” to be black (let’s really think about…has institutional racism, really gone anywhere? NO. I didn’t think so) and well, it sucks to be queer, too (can’t get married, gotta fight for my rights and shit) so dammit, I’m fucked either way…and in being supremely fucked by this winner-take-all society, I am empowered.

So Tyree, Audre Lorde said it best, “Fuck you.”

    Nah, my mistake.

    That was just me.

    • I’m pretty sure Audre Lorde would say fuck you to this guy.

And i just did too. Woo!

  19. It’ll probably lead to socialism too *shudder* and jobs and a better education system and health reforms and sunshine.

If there’s anything the USA really needs, is a re-evaluation, a change, in the “perception of what is good, what is right, what is just.”

  20. Just fyi – David Tyree plays for the NY Giants, not the Rangers. The NY Rangers are a hockey team.

    • Nevermind – I misread the part of about Rangers star Avery supporting us, just ignore my comment!

  21. Also what’s really funny about his comments about gender roles is that my mom was the feminist, independent parent who taught me to be opinionated and curious and feisty. It was my father who was the sexist parent who wanted me to act like a “lady.” (And my stepmother, too, but she was supported by my father.) Part of the reason I’m able to be the ass-kicking feminist I am right now is that I got away from my father/stepmother and their obsessive focus on conformity at all costs.

  22. “How can marriage be marriage for thousands of years and now all of a sudden because a minority — an influential minority — has a push or an agenda and totally reshapes something that was not founded in our country? It’s something that’s holy and sacred and I think there’s nothing more honorable than fighting for it.”

    This wasn’t? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loving_v._Virginia

  23. do these people think that if someone has two dads/moms they will never have a positive other gender role model? cuz thats stupid. there will always be opposite gender role models in the world, and usually in a persons’ own life as well.

  24. I FORGOT Y’all!

Fuck marrying some one of the same gender, just settle for marrying your first cousin, which you can um still do..

You know cuz cousin marriage doesn’t destroy the “sanctity of marriage” at all because incest is perfectly fine before God.

    Yeah. Okay.

  25. He used the phrase ‘sexual conquest’. Obviously he should not be taken seriously. Who uses the phrase ‘sexual conquest’? Asshats, that’s who.

I AM A SEX CONQUISTADOR. <– this statement lacks sense.
