Brittani’s Video Party: Jenny Slate, Robyn, and Lena Dunham are Mean Elves

Greetings. This is Brittani’s Video Party, where I bring some of the “best” videos from all over my internet together so we can clap, cry or deconstruct. Have you ever gotten to a video and it already has 33 million views and you wonder where the heck have you been? Well I’m here to help you so that you see it when it only has 32 million views. Aim low, world. Aim low.

A group of students at KTH, a Swedish technical college, are making a robot. And this robot happens to be inspired by Robyn. No word yet on whether the robot will be able to call its girlfriend and have the talk.

The trailer for Season 3 of Girls is out and exactly what you’d expect it to be which I think is a good thing if you like the show. It contains this gem: “It’s really liberating to say ‘no’ to the shit you hate.” I can vouch for that.

Because the internet will never run out of things to mash up with Mean Girls, “Mean Elves” now exists. Bilbo Baggins gets shown the ropes by Middle Earth’s most popular clique.

Jenny Slate’s webseries Catherine is so funny, but I can’t promise you will feel the same. It’s v. weird and hilarious in a way I can’t quite put my finger on. Slate aimed to split the tone between boring and funny and in that process got hysterical. It’s one of those things where if you don’t laugh at the theme song, you probs won’t like it. I start laughing before these episodes even start just in anticipation of the theme song–which is just one word. I’m curious how people will feel about this one so let me know.

If you have a video you think everyone should see, tweet it to @bishilarious for consideration. And of course feel free to post your favorite videos from the week below.

  1. Can’t wait for season three of girls! Also I found the Jenny Slate thing to be super funny… no idea why

  2. “No word yet on whether the robot will be able to call its girlfriend and have the talk.”

    Best. haha

  3. The Catherine series ifs great. It reminds me of ESL videos our Amy foreign language video for that matter.

  4. Omg, I stopped reading as soon as I saw Jenny Slate, and watched it all and came back to finish reading – I buuuurrrrst out laughing at the theme song, every time. I loved these videos. But I’m curious what the….point of them was, lol. Just in the sense, like, what was going through they’re heads when they wrote and produced it??

  5. Catherina is a little strange, lol, but it has it’s own cool vibe! ‘Girl’ sigh…I want to hate it but I find it inspiring and refreshing to see on television. Just my thoughts!

  6. I feel like the ultimate hipster because I saw that Mean Elves video a few days ago. #lowstandards

  7. Catherine is brilliant. It’s making me nostalgic for the late 80s/early 90s. I remember when TV was this cheesy :)

  8. I feel like Mean Girls would mash up with Harry Potter better than it did with the hobbit. Is this a thing that exists? Please someone say yes.

  9. Catherine started off kinda weird but then I just had to keep watching episode after episode until I saw the whole story! Hilarious!

  10. Okay so I just watched all of Catherine and what even did I even just see even but I totally just watched all of it and was kinda upset when I realized I’d watched them all so.. idk
