AutoFocus! Snapshots from the Rodeo Disco

Because parties don’t really exist unless someone is there to photograph it, Autostraddle’s First Annual Rodeo Disco boasted three fabulous photographers: Our very own Robin Roemer, the incredible Dese’Rae Stage and Sin Garcia.
You’ll see Dese’Rae’s shots later this week when they’ll be available for viewing and ordering online and more of Robin & Sin’s shots in our upcoming massive Pride Recap Post … but in today’s Autofocus we present just a few of our most favoritist shots from the greatest night on earth!

you’re all so beautiful and i love you all so much! these shots are amaze. 3 thumbs up! xoxox

  2. this looks like it was brilliant!
hope there weren’t many team throw-ups prior to the team hangover.

    • As far as I know no one threw up, at least no one in my cab did, Riese even informed me not to worry that she has never thrown up in front of other people, except once, which proceeded into a story, because apparently that is what happens when you ask “Are you going to throw up?”

      • the first night riese and i hung out solo, she threw up, although not in front of me. true story.

        • Well, that still makes her story true I suppose, since it was not in front of you

  3. 1. i’m in love with everyone, shhh don’t tell.

    2. such great shots! i miss everyone so much! repetitive punctuation!

    3. get a load of all them alternative lifestyle haircuts. and all that plaid. mission accomplished, ladies.

    4. lolololol look at me hanging onto laura like it’s going to keep me in the party. i believe this was taken as i was being escorted out for the last time and i managed to break away for goodbye hugs.

  4. hi my name is alex. i like to play with monkeys in the trees. i am a monkey. you should see my fun dance! i like to play with michael jackson. jk he’s dead. omg!! i love everyone so much! i had so much fun at the party. what i remember is that i was trying to keep the kids off drugs and thinking omg, i love everyone so muchly. and also, why doesn’t riese remember anything that happened at the party. who was giving her all that tequila. was it tila? brb i’m gonna go learn how to read poems now xoxoxoxoxo

    • I remember two girls who were like “omg, is that riese?? RIESE we want you to take this shot!!” and then they squealed with excitement as she downed the shot…so i blame the fans…

that was one fun party, for sure!

  5. i am supposed to tell you that i wrote that first comment it wasn’t alex, and she was the one who wrote the comment about assraping me which isn’t funny obvs, just ask helena who dropped the soap or anyone else who ever dropped the soap (coughyourmomcough), this is serious business. alex is about to read some poems, though.

oh! i love the photos! obvs!

  6. these guys are lovely especially the one of robin since she’s usually behind the camera, you knowww?
in other news, looking at these pictures scares me a little bit because i don’t remember there being this many people there. ooc09.

    • haha laura I just texted Heidi saying basically the same thing, because I totally don’t remember seeing 3/4 of those people in the pictures at the party, which concerns me, because I didn’t think I was all that drunk…. but then again according to these pictures I wasn’t even there – which is very well possible

  7. well I was that drunk, and i don’t recal seeing anyone except the army and team and 1 lady with glasses(that we compaired glasses stories about forevr). Like thats it in my memory. so glad there are terrific pics to fill me in on the missing parts! Great photos!

and laura looking at that pic of you and katria made me remember..you made me lift you up so you could watch someone on the mechanical bull.I hope there isn’t a pic of that!

  8. i walked away from this party with a shoebox full of door cash, a wicked hangover, and a digital photograph of intern laura’s rack. i throw a wicked fucking party. OMG what will the theme of our next party be? outer space? steampunk? time travel???

  9. oh and robin, you’re insanely talented, and so sweet and so so pretty. i love you! i love the team! i love that picture of laneia on the bull (wait what?)!

  10. Hi I’m riese now, not riese logged in as alex.

I don’t remember that many people there either, perhaps it was a photography trick or I was hiding under the folding table with intern emily i choo-choo-choose you and intern hurricane katrina and intern X (kept that nickname as its already badass, though “intern grounded” was proposed).

everyone looks so pretty in photos. maybe i can begin to piece together memories though i’ve been thinking really hard for a long time and can’t seem to recall any specific conversation but lots of bits & pieces!

    • hi riese not logged in as alex. petition to change my name? perhaps just pika-choo? i already have a hat that says exactly that. no lie.

    • thanks to brooke and her vodka ruffies i don’t remember much either. although i’m being filled in via twitter and photographs.

yeah where did all those people come from?

  11. I like how I’m sort of lurking like a goon in the background of several pictures. Also, as far as I know, no one threw up at Hotel Intern. I made it very clear that if anyone had to be ill, they had to be ill faaaar away from me (and Asher because we both pointed out that we are sympathy pukers and I wasn’t having any of that)! I don’t have a picture of Laura’s rack but I do have one of Tirna’s! Steampunk, racks and 21 would be a good theme… ;)

  12. you guys are all crazygonuts. also: thank you robin for talking me up all fancylike.

  13. omg you guys next year we’re having a social skills seminar before the party (i need one too) there were so many cool people there!

i talked to dykes on bikecycles, like 20 people asked me “are you riese?” and then said lovely things about autostraddle which was awesome, I talked to Alex’s friends I think, um, Lady Starlight, and this dude that Daphne brought with her from Dutchland or something, and I talked to the rugby player and her hot girlfriend, and actually I think I talked to everyone except for Alex, Carly, Stef, Brooke and Robin, because I see their faces way too much as is.

That being said, I did spend a lot of time under the folding tables. And sitting on the street with the banished interns. I never see their faces!

    • I tried to get laura or someone to introduce me to Riese, I was way too nervous to introduce myself.

  14. as one of maybe 5 people who wasn’t shitfaced at this party, i have ALL of my memories intact. unfortunately, i was in the dj booth for half the night so i didn’t get to witness much. irony! i miss everyone, the party was fun times world!

    • i love that i’m in like none of these because i was running all over the place like an ADD-addled little bee.
also, seeing carly and cesar’s dance extravaganza made me aspire to be a better human being.

    • i can sympathize: i hid in a corner the entire time, partially because i’m shy and partially because i had a Job To Do.

    • I wasn’t shitfaced (just nicely buzzed) but I spent from about ~11:30 on at the door so I missed some of the chaos in the back and the mechanical bull riding contest…

  15. i’m gonna buy a plaid shirt, move to NY and be besties with everyone in these pictures.

    • Do you also have gay shoes and an alternative lifestyle haircut? Cuz those are also required… ;)

    • I’m going to buy plaid and move to NY as well. First I need to marry someone for a green card.

  16. i don’t remember much from this evening – certainly no one i spoke to – though i think i danced the entirety of evening…

i never closed my tab and returned yesterday to clear it – hoping to find my boa and my dignity too.

i can’t wait to do it again.

    • Hi Robin, I’m sorry but I lost your hat. I don’t remember if I stole it from you or if you gave it to me (you gave it to me, right?) but the next morning I had it. I tied it around my bag, and took a taxi to my bus stop. It fell off when I was getting out of the cab and by the time I realized it, the cab was gone. I was so sad I almost cried :(

      • Aww! No worries!! Party City, $4. Next time you come back I’ll get you another one!

  17. Oh everyone in 3D, and now indelible (Robin, can I order a print from you of my gorgeous roommate and my silly face?)

What a fantastic party. My friends are all still talking about it. the gay ones said it was the friendliest, most energetic and fun pride party they’d ever attended. The straight ones may no longer be so certain of their Kinsey rating. Everyone wants to intern for autostraddle.

Your hard work is SO appreciated, team+ interns. It went off wonderfully and everyone had so much fun. It was my first pride and I can’t imagine a better way to kick off than with you.

I’m checking these to get a better view of that girl from Chicago- Stef knows what i’m talking about. WOMP WOMP.
