There is not an easy backup tool for Droid built in, so here are some other ideas on how to protect your data on your Android smartphone or tablet.

As many of you pointed out, my pseudonym is Lana Turing in tribute. Because without Turing, none of us computer nerds would be as advanced as we are today.

The cloud isn’t actually a magical place in the sky– more likely it’s a data center in Tennessee somewhere. Let’s talk about why you should think about cloud storage and some basics to get you started.

So to break up the backing up series, I thought I’d just do a short interlude today: Code Academy makes it fast and fun to learn to code with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Ruby and Python. You get these teeny tiny little badges like you’re coding girl scout nerd, which of course makes me smile a lot.

We’re going to talk about formatting the hard drive for your operating system, hard drives that you can buy that fit your needs and budget and even about building your own hard drive from parts (this can keep the cost down and is extra special nerdy.)

Part one of backing it up: discussing what it is, why we need to do it, what the different kinds of back ups are, etc.

Basically, trackpad shortcuts aren’t just super duper time savers when you’re using a Mac. They’re also an opportunity for me to talk about one-finger, two-finger, three-finger and four-finger gestures with an audience who will get the joke.
