Video: Angel Haze Covers “Drunk In Love,” Remains Freestyle Queen

Audrey’s Team Pick:

This video of Angel Haze singing “Drunk In Love” by Beyoncé combines so many of my interests, namely Angel Haze, Beyoncé, sports jersey dresses, the color purple, and a very enthusiastic dancing white girl. The production is a little rough, but Haze’s edgy take on the song is super fun. She uses her kickass rapping skills to replace Jay-Z’s (pretty meh) verse in the track with her own freestyle. As with her covers of tracks like “Same Love” and “Wrecking Ball,” Haze makes the song her own and then gives it to all of us. Angel Haze and Beyoncé both released totally awesome albums in December, and this video is giving me beautiful visions of a joint world tour or them eating brunch together and posting pictures of it on Instagram.

We love Angel Haze here at Team Autostraddle and how could we not when she keeps doing things like this?

  1. I already have so much love for Angel Haze, but her covering songs by artists I dislike is so fetch.

    • Yes gaww. Angel Haze has been my new favorite since Classick dropped and she just keeps getting better like damn.

  2. Amazing. Angel’s rap game is so much better than Jay Z’s version which leaves much to be desired. And the dancing back up vocalist was the best.

    • Right? I want to party with that girl. Also with Angel Haze. And Beyoncé…

Jay Z can come too, I suppose.
