There are a few– and I do stress a few– WOC in there, and not necessarily paired up with a white woman…Indian women, Asian women, Black women….there was a bit of colour, but yes, there needs to be more. I wish I had seen some first nations women– we are even further marginalised. Maybe I just need to make a movie? (not be in it, just make it…..

Thanks for enlightening me folks! I have actually seen the movie, but I watched it through a different lens. I felt annoyed about the ending, but appreciated the movie more for what it illustrates about black masculinity than what it says about lesbians. And ditto Charly. I think that Washington’s arc isn’t offensive because I don’t get the impression that she is a lesbian. She loved the Mackie’s character, but she also loved Ramirez’s.
